When going through my old "CrosFit" pictures, I found one that brought back some serious memories. What you see in this picture is where it all started. In my backyard, with a homemade slamball, which still sits in my office, one of the many boxes which are now at the gym, one of my Army issue duffel bags filled with 50#'s of sand and a log which weighed about 92 pounds. For the first months of CrossFit I used what you see in this picture. I ran, I swang and I pushed through some of the most miserable workouts I ever imagined. Someday I may find a way to scan my old workout journals and post them on my log. I eventually added KB's a pair of gymnastic rings and a rower. I sometimes sit in the gym mesmerized by where I started to where I am now and where I envision WE as a collective group will go on to in the future. I'd love to hear about your first CrossFit story. Where you started, why you started and what you were feeling as you started this road to a new you. I know when I started I was in denial that something so intense and so short would work as it does. Boy was I wrong!!! Feel free to post your story in the comment section below.

My Crossfit journey began last Jan. after I bought a 3 month membership at a school auction. I remember leaving class everyday in AWE of all the beautiful and strong women I worked out with (something I still do)and wanting so badly to get where they were physically. I left many times feeling totally defeated and yes,Jim, there ARE tears at Crossfit but the camaraderie always brought me back through those doors. It is unlike any other gym in the area and I know, I've belonged to them all.

I think I started coming to Crossfit in August of 2008 after Kara Eades (who was baby sitting for my girls) told me about this workout she loved that lasted about 15-20 minutes but was really intense. I knew I needed to start doing something other than just running to build up my strength so I figured I would check it out for a month or two, learn some workouts, and then do it on my own. Well...over a year and a half later, I'm still coming to Crossfit. I like the variety and push myself way more than I ever would have done on my own. Anyone who knows me knows that it is a small miracle that I get myself out of bed 2 or 3 days a week at 4:40am to make it to the 5:15am workout...something here works for me and I like it!
