I started working out at Michiana Adventure BootCamp with Jim in July of 2007 with the intention of doing a four week bootcamp three times a week and calling it a good day! BOY WAS I WRONG…. I jumped feet first into this and have been loving it ever since. By October of 2007, Jim asked me if I would like to work for him and in December of that year I received my personal training certification. I am now a Level 1 Certified CrossFit Coach and also certified in CrossFit Nutrition. I look forward to taking many of the certifications CrossFit offers to further my education as a coach.
There is no better feeling in the world than walking into a class full of people and guiding them through the steps of a workout. If I am having a “bad” day…the one thing that can get me moving is coaching a class. I love working with all levels of people- I started a “Fit Club” at Schmucker Middle School – I coach the Penn Girls Rugby Team in fitness – I coach at the Corporate Boot Camps – and my original true love is coaching at the gym.
My advice to anyone looking into doing CrossFit is simple – ANYONE and EVERYONE can do CrossFit! I used to be an “I can’t” girl, I used to say “but I’m not athletic”….there is NOTHING more wrong! I went from never working out a day in my life, never being in a gym, never being on a “team” to finding my passion here at CrossFit Michiana. You CAN too!

I January of 2008 I met Jim and that chance meeting forever changed the way I viewed physical fitness. One week at Crossfit Michiana and I knew I would never go back to my old gym again. A few months here and I knew I wanted to be a part of this gym beyond one of the athletes. I wanted to help others change their lives just as mine had been changed. In August of 2008 I received my CPT from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and then went on to become Crossfit level 1 Certified in March of 2009. In addition I have a Crossfit Nutrition Certification. I take pride in being a responsible coach and am always looking for ways to improve so I can share my knowledge and help our athletes reach their goals. When I am not Crosfitting I enjoy boating, a little swimming and kayaking on the lake with family and friends.

My Crossfit story starts somewhere in late August early September of 2007 when someone I played rugby with on the men's team kept telling about this thing called Crossfit. After hearing about it a few times I decided to give it a try. I have been playing sports and working out for most of my life, and based on that one workout I knew I was on to something good. From that day forth I have never looked back. I
remember getting into my car and seeing my old workout sheet on the passenger seat I looked at it and then put into my glove box, cause I knew that I would have do need for it anymore.
The whole part about me wanting to become a trainer actually started long before I got certified. After doing Crossfit for about half a year I would talk to Jim here and there about training and what I would have to do if I wanted to become one. He would tell me things I could read that would help me. Finally the time came when Jim needed to start adding some trainers. After a couple of months of studying I
went to take the test to become a certified personal trainer. Almost exactly one year after joining Crossfit I was a trainer. Since that time I have gotten my Level 1 Crossfit Certification, Crossfit Nutrition Certification, Crossfit Football Certification, and more planned for the future. I am currently a junior at IUSB going for a major in both Entrepreneurship, and Human Resources.
