Cathy's Story

If someone would have told me all the things that would change about me from the time I walked through the doors of CFM, to now I would have said they were crazy! Which is what I thought Carole was when she started to educate me on nutrition and how all the stuff I was eating (Lean Cuisines, diet bars, fiber bars, whole wheat pasta and bread…the list goes on!) wasn’t doing one bit of good for my overall health. You see, this gym is not just about walking through the doors, getting some exercise and leaving. It’s about your overall health and well-being and teaching you not only the importance of running, jumping, lifting heavy things..... it’s also what you put inside you that’s important. That’s what makes Crossfit and CFM different than your run-of-the-mill globo gym.

I started at CFM after a good friend finally talked me into coming after a year of telling me how awesome it was. I came during a “Bring a Friend” week. And yes, I was pretty skeptical. I have always been active in athletics and I took up running after my kids came along to get rid of that extra baby weight. But, running by myself all the time was pretty boring and time consuming. It seemed like it was taking more and more miles to keep the weight where I thought I wanted it. I just didn’t think a scheduled; class type setting was for me. Needless to say I never looked back from that week! Not once!

I don’t look in the mirror anymore hoping to be skinny – I look for definition in my muscles. Long gone are the days of just losing weight. I now strive to build lean muscle and lose body fat and have never felt better. Since eating paleo and doing Crossfit, I don’t get colds or sinus infections anymore, I don’t worry about every single calorie and I eat when I am hungry. Crossfit and CFM have changed my entire perspective on fitness.

I believe so much in Crossfit and their methods of functional movements that I decided I wanted to be able to coach at the gym. I have received my CF-L1 and Olympic Lifting Certification.

I love our gym community. I never would have thought I would meet so many great friends at a gym. The people that are members here are awesome and make it so much fun to come and work out and to coach.
